Cowell, what a lovely quaint little town, we really enjoyed our stay here. We did think we left the wind back in Whyalla but the very last day in Cowell it swept in again! so much that opening the door in and out of the van was so gusty we had to hold on! it did feel like a scene from 'wuthering heights" each time.
we have heard from a local that its not normally this windy on the Eyre Penninsula, but..we must embrace it, Iv'e heard the coast along up to the Nullarbor and beyond is pretty windy! Also the weather patterns here are amazing, the fronts seem to sweep down from the northeast?? Iv'e never seen this before.

Whyalla.... Jan 21-27
Whyalla, staying down on the beachfront boulevard was great, the kids enjoyed the beach and collected many shells for shell necklace making! We thought it was windy in Port Augusta! 2 days in the wind picked up in whyalla particullarly right outside our door! and it was the strongest wind iv'e ever experienced it blew a gale! plus all the lovely grit and seaspray and heat to top it off, haaa!( at least we could bunk in the air con and watch the tennis) nonetheless, we had many bike rides , BBQs, beach walks, op shopping (many bargains!) Australia Day celebrations, also the kids had thier picture taken for the whyalla times paper for an article on too much seaweed, it was in the second page and in colour, i was pretty proud! and my favourite was a trip to the the Maratime Museum and the HMAS Whyalla Ship, i thoroughly enjoyed all the history and the also the WADLATA outback centre at Port Augusta is absolutely fantastic, its worth taking a drive what wonderful history and very well done. Enjoy the photos! i know probably too many beach shots!! x

It was very 'spooky' inside the war ship, everything was metal and chunky and diesel smelling, it was an eerie step back in time everything as was when the sailors were on board, sleeping, eating, menus etc. The Maratime Mueseum was fantastic too, I love History!
Kym playing 'Kate Winslet' lol
Kitchen
This was where sailors could go and 'hangout', there was hammocks tables chairs etc. I know a few of these decks at my place, with a tad different style mess, lol!
The gardens thru to the Museum
Absolutely LOVED this well kept coloured polished 60's Floor! what a cool building!
Interesting Astrological Info..
A Fantastic museum, could have spent hours, well worth a visit, left Whyalla,
next stop Cowell...
